Our Wedding

Alex and I were married in November of 2014. After 11 years of dating, we finally tied the knot. We decided make and collect everything I could. Everything included the flowers, table decor, ceremony decor, tableware, invitations, signs, thank you gifts, and lawn games. Our main colors were mint, teal, and gold. Of course, like any wedding, we had a hiccup. The weather was unseasonably cold for early November in Georgia. There were even snow flurries that morning. Because of that, we had to do the ceremony inside and the corn hole tables were mostly unplayed. Everything else went off without a hitch.

We wanted to make sure everything reflected us. Our wonderful day of coordinator went above and beyond to make our day perfect and reflect our vision. We chose the Brickyard in the Marietta Square to hold the ceremony and reception. It was a nice blank industrial space for us to fill and decorate. We had a short and sweet ceremony and included a knot tying. Afterwards, I had the knot framed to hang in our home. One of our favorite restaurants, Heirloom Market, catered dinner. We were very lucky to have a baker in the family who graciously created our cakes. We wanted a very personal feel to the wedding, and received a great deal of support from our friends and family.

We also wanted to gently include our favorite fandoms without overwhelming all the guests. Some of the paper crafts included pages from copies of Harry Potter, and a Golden Snitch was hidden on the back of our wedding cake. Alex’s groom’s cake had a shield from the game Dark Souls. The thank you gifts were Earl Grey tea and hot chocolate with quotes from Star Trek. One of my favorite parts was during dinner before dancing; all the music was from soundtracks from movies, shows, and videos games we both love.
